HOW TO: EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR HANDBAG – PART 2

The genius tricks your mom didn’t teach you. Here are a few stylish solutions that will simplify your life, guaranteed.

1.Waterproof your canvas and fabric bag naturally by rubbing them with beeswax and then setting it with a blow-dryer. For a quick on-line fix, visit simplybeeswax.co.za

2.Fix a stuck zipper by rubbing the teeth with a graphite pencil tip. Careful though that the dust does not settle on your light coloured bag. Horror!

3.Bread has had such a bad rap in our carb-conscious world. We however, find the most prefect use for it if you are avoiding the dreaded paunch: To clean dirt off suede, remove the crust from a piece of bread and allow it to become stale. Gently rub the stain with the edge of the stale bread, and it will disappear. Voila!

4.Yup, our hands are oily…hand cream, moisturizer, etc. does not help. Get a stain out of a purse by coating the mark with baby powder and letting it sit overnight. By morning, the stain should be gone. Brush off and you ready to go.

5.Get scratches out of leather bags by rubbing a tiny bit of moisturizer into the scratch with an ear-bud until the scratch is gone. For deeper scratches or tears (what have you been doing?), visit leatheraid.co.za. They can give your bag a fabulous second life.
